Digital Literacy | Little Builders, Big Ideas

Digital literacy is about more than technology; it is also about learning to collaborate, create, and solve problems. During the summer camp, our students explored LEGO engineering, coding, and artificial intelligence through hands-on activities, building both digital skills and teamwork along the way.

Here are a few glimpses from our classrooms that we’d like to share with you.

LEGO: Build Our “Firewall” Together

A lively team challenge kicked off the lesson.

Working in groups, students earned LEGO bricks through games including Pictionary, memory challenges and fun quizzes. Every raised hand and every successful collaboration helped their team collect more building pieces.

Once every team had collected enough bricks, it was time to build their own “firewalls”.

Students discussed ideas, shared building materials and worked together to turn their imagination into reality. Castles, towers, houses and even wheeled creations soon appeared around the classroom.

Please come and take a picture of our firewall!

Every team was proud of their work, confidently showing it to the camera. Laughter and lively conversations filled every corner of the classroom.

At the end of the lesson, everyone worked together to sort and put away every LEGO piece, showing teamwork from beginning to end.

Coding: Every Line of Code Matters

In coding class, students became focused young programmers.

Through creating a moving watering can animation, they explored how different coding commands work. Whenever the teacher asked a question, eager hands shot into the air as students confidently explained their ideas.

Some students worked together to solve challenges, while others confidently asked questions. Volunteers guided every learner patiently, encouraging each child to discover solutions independently.

AI: Hello, Xiaoshizi

What is artificial intelligence?

Following the story of “A Day in the Life of AI Xiaoshizi,” students compared an AI puppy with a real puppy, discovering how AI differs from the real world while learning about the four core capabilities of artificial intelligence.

The highlight of the lesson was the “AI Xiaoshizi Command Game.” Students eagerly volunteered to give instructions, enthusiastically putting their understanding into practice. Through play and interaction, AI concepts became engaging, accessible and fun.

Discovering Infinite Possibilities Through Digital Learning

Digital literacy lessons help students develop foundational skills in coding, engineering and artificial intelligence while encouraging collaboration, creativity and curiosity.

From eager hands raised in class to proud smiles beside completed projects, every activity became another step in their learning journey.
